This web page is dedicated to Miss Helen Johnson who passed away on April 29, 2014. She was 90 years old. She lived an extraordinary life and will be missed by all who knew her. Miss Helen was engrossed in preserving animal life of every kind, especially those of bats and butterflies. Miss Helen never married so she decided a long time ago to leave the bulk of her estate to charitable groups. Additionally, Miss Helen will long be remembered for her individual acts of generosity. She had a special love for the Navajo Nation, in particular, those served by St. Anne’s Mission in Klagetoh, Az.
Miss Helen would make yearly contributions to the mission and visited many times.
A missionary once said “You know, Miss Helen did not believe in God, but she did God's work".
To commemorate her memory, there will be a non-denominational Celebration of Life on November 1, 2014 at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History
, Pacific Grove, California.
Please join us on this date to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that you make a gift to St. Anne's Mission
, in Klagetho, AZ. Please designate that this donation be used for outreach services. We know this would make Miss Helen happy. Below is a tentative agenda for this celebration, which falls on one of Miss Helen's favorite holidays--El Dia de los Muertos ,
otherwise known as Day of the Dead, or All Souls Days We are confident that wherever Miss Helen is, she will be smiling knowing that her service is being held, not only as the monarchs are returning to Pacific Grove, but also on the Day of the Dead.
